The Plank Stewardship Initiative (PSI), entering its fourth year of grantmaking supporting agricultural producers in the Northern Great Plains, is excited to announce a new three-year initiative focusing on rangeland resilience.

The challenges to agricultural lands and the people who manage them continue to mount and the Great Plains are seeing more persistent drought, more regular wildfires, and expanding threats from invasive species, among other stressors.

It is clear that the future of thriving sustainable agricultural operations in the Northern Great Plains will rely on a concerted focus and sustained efforts to achieve resilience.

To help producers achieve this goal, PSI is launching a Letter of Interest (LOI) and Request for Proposals (RFP) process to support its new three-year Rangeland Resilience Initiative.

PSI is looking for nonprofit and/or government agency entities to partner with, in a mutual effort to support producers in incorporating practices that enhance rangeland resilience across the Northern Great Plains landscape.

PSI is interested in partners that have a proven track record of meaningful, measurable and lasting impacts working with producers. Of particular interest to PSI are activities and programs that incorporate sustainable rangeland management practices that help ensure both the ecological resiliency and economic sustainability of agricultural operations.

PSI is allocating funds of up to $150,000 per year to accomplish this initiative and individual partners will be eligible for one-to-three-year grants.

The Letter of Interest document detailing the process, criteria and timeline prospective partners will be asked to respond to is attached.

Please contact PSI’s Executive Director with any questions regarding the new initiative and the Letter of Interest process. We are excited at what we may be able to accomplish together over the next three years!

in Spring 2023, PSI transitioned to a private Grantmaking foundation.
